Massimo Merone is an orchestra and choir conductor as well as a violinist. He completed his violin studies at the “Luigi Cherubini” Conservatory in Florence and furthered his training at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, and the International Music School of the Trio di Trieste. In 2014, he obtained with highest honors a second-level degree in Baroque violin at the “Bruno Maderna” Conservatory of Cesena.

As a violinist, he has collaborated with leading Baroque ensembles such as Auser Musici, Europa Galante, I Barocchisti, and Musica Perduta. Alongside his instrumental activity, he developed a solid conducting career. He earned a diploma in choral conducting with highest marks from the International School for Choral Conductors of the Guido d’Arezzo Foundation and, since 2000, has been the conductor of the “G. P. da Palestrina” Choral Ensemble, specializing in Renaissance and Baroque repertoire, with performances in Italy and abroad. He has recently been appointed conductor of the Ager Cosanus Choir.

He graduated with highest honors in orchestral conducting from the “Luigi Cherubini” Conservatory in Florence. In 2010, following an advanced conducting course, Maestro Piero Bellugi selected him to conduct a concert in Florence with the Florence Symphonietta, acknowledging his artistic and technical qualities. He subsequently completed an advanced conducting diploma at the European Academy of Orchestral Conducting in Vicenza under Maestro Romolo Gessi.

He distinguished himself at the Berliner Masterkurse with the Berliner Symphoniker under Maestro Lior Shambadal, who awarded him a diploma of merit during a masterclass on Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. He also attended advanced courses at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena with Maestro Gianluigi Gelmetti.

His conducting engagements include collaborations with the Sanremo Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Regionale Filarmonia Veneta, Lucca Symphony Orchestra, Florence Symphonietta, Orchestra “Città di Grosseto,” OIDA Orchestra of Arezzo, Cappella Tiberina, Orchestra della Franciacorta, and the Pazardzik Symphony Orchestra. In 2025, he served as choral and orchestral rehearsal conductor (Maestro preparatore) for Il Volo concerts broadcast on Canale 5. He is the founder and principal conductor of the “Vivace” Youth Orchestra.
